We all know that if we have a project to work on, it requires our undivided attention. We need to be able to be focused, dedicating time and effort giving our 100%.
We need to make sure that in order to meet the deadline, we have planned enough time to complete the work and go back and make improvements and adjustments if it is required.
The work we create can represents us is many different ways and we need to take our work seriously to be taken seriously.
This all may sound simple enough but the truth is life doesn’t work that way.
If, for example, we have an important presentation we need to complete and submit, that does not mean that all the work we usually have to do, can be ignored.
We have things that require our attention at work, at home and in between.
So how can we ensure that we are able to give priority where its due?
As well as creating an environment we are comfortable with where we can remain focused, we need to make sure that anything that doesn’t hold the same precedence as the work we need to do, can be cancelled.
If there are meetings that do not require your presence and an email, phone or a zoom meeting can achieve the same task while being more productive in the process, then say no to that meeting.
If you have been offered to take on additional work that can take time away from what is important, then politely decline.
If there are work events that you have already been to and will be repeated later on, and you know you will not miss out on much apart from the latest gossip, then cancel that in your diary.
If there are social gatherings being planned, and they are important to you but can be done another time, then reschedule them.
We cannot cancel everything that can take us away from work, and sometimes taking a break can motivate us into being more productive, and can revive our mind, body and soul.
But at the same time, we cannot have our whole world revolving around one project we need to be able to juggle more tasks than one if it is required from us.
So what need to remember is that we control what we dedicate ourselves to, and we are the best judge of what is wanted opposed to what is needed in our lives.
So anything we do not need, no matter how much we want it, we need to learn to cancel to carry out what is important.
There is nothing you cannot achieve if you have planned and dedicated time and effort for it.
Reflect. Love. Heal.
